Morphological description (see also description of Genus Bauhinia ; Subgenus Phanera and Section Palmatifolia )
Climber (tendrils not seen).
Leaves: stipules not seen; petioles glabrous, 1-2 cm, thickened at both ends; lamina coriaceous, entire, ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate, 5.5-11 by 1.8-6.2 cm, apex subacute, base truncate to shallowly cordate; glabrous on both surfaces; nerves 3 long ones and 2 short basal ones (campanulata Bauh lv/infl FM14).
Inflorescence corymbose; axis finely reddish pubescent, 1-5 cm; pedicels 4.5-5.5 cm, finely reddish puberulous; bracts not seen; bracteoles subulate, c. 2 mm, hairy along the margin, subopposite, inserted at 1-2 cm above the base (campanulata Bauh infl 386324).
Flowers: (campanulata Bauh fl 386325) Buds obovoid, finely reddish puberulous, 10 by 8 mm. Hypanthium tubular, striate, hairy as the buds, 8-10 mm long, gradually tapering towards the pedicel. Calyx campanulate, c. 13 mm, splitting regularly 1/2 to 2/3 into 5 erect, triangular lobes. Petals yellowish, turning orange, later red, subequal, obovate to oblong, 24-27 by 12-16 mm, including the c. 3 mm long claw, margin undulate; inner surface glabrous, outer sparsely pubescent, glabrous towards the margin. Stamens and staminodes 10: 3 large stamens with filaments 18-20 mm and ellipsoid anthers, 3 by 2 mm; 3 small stamens with filaments 8-10 mm and globose anthers, 1.5 mm; 4 staminodes, 2-9 mm; anthers opening by a central pore in each theca, connective produced into a minute apical tip. Ovary 9 mm, slightly hairy along the suture; stipe 6 mm, hairy; style 6 mm, glabrous, curved; stigma capitate; ovules 8 (campanulata Bauh fl FM14).

Malesia: Brunei, endemic.
Habitat
Hill dipterocarp forest, c. 350 m altitude.
