Tree up to 10 m deviating by the inflorescences which are stiff, panicles 6-9 cm long, terminal on the young, leafy shoots, and composed by 6-10 racemes . Ovary hairy.

Distribution
NE India, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam. Commonly cultivated in tropical Asia and elsewhere. In Malesia only known in cultivation, the type is from a cultivated plant.

Habitat
Evergreen and deciduous forests.
